Course Code: IDT-TE-DA
Course Title: Digital Assessment and Differentiated STEM Instruction
Instructor: Michael G. Hines, M.Ed.
Course Description:
The Digital Assessment and Differentiated STEM Instruction course is designed for mathematics and science teachers seeking to enhance their understanding and proficiency in gathering evidence about student understanding and acting on it. Over four comprehensive modules, participants will explore technology-enabled formative assessment, digital differentiation, data-driven grouping, and authentic performance assessment. This course offers educators practical insights, diverse examples, and invaluable strategies to implement diagnostic feedback, scaffold learning pathways, and target instruction to the zone of proximal development.
Upon completion of this course, teachers will possess a comprehensive understanding of assessment techniques and differentiation strategies. They will be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to design well-structured pre-tests and online quizzes, construct analytic rubrics, and manage flexible grouping in a STEM classroom. By mastering these principles, educators will be better prepared to meet the diverse readiness levels of their students and facilitate meaningful educational experiences.
The course covers four (4) modules:

Part 1: Thursday, 10/22/2026 - 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM BKK time
Module 1 delves into the mechanics of formative and summative assessment, providing participants with a clear understanding of technology-enabled diagnostic feedback and rapid digital diagnosis in an educational context.
Module 2 focuses on the crucial process of differentiating instruction using digital media. Participants will explore differentiation by content, process, product, and learning environment, learning how to build self-paced digital scaffolding tailored to varying learner readiness levels.
Part 2: Friday, 10/23/2026 - 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM BKK time
Module 3 revolves around making data-driven instructional decisions, a fundamental component of effective classroom management. Participants will develop skills in targeting the zone of proximal development, creating flexible student groupings, and implementing scaffolded learning pathways.
Module 4 immerses participants in the art of authentic assessment and rubric design, providing insights into constructing performance-based STEM tasks. Participants will explore mathematical modeling and lab investigations and learn how to write observable descriptors for analytic rubrics.
